Cerberus Pikachu Custom Figure

Cerberus Pikachu Custom Figure

In ancient Alola mythology, there exists a three headed rodent called Cerberus Pikachu that guards the entrance to the underworld, a misty and gloomy place in which spirits of the dead are permitted to enter but none are allowed to leave. Cerberus Pikachu fawned on the dead or new spirits as they entered, but would savagely eat anyone trying to pass back through the gates and return to the land of the living.

I have been wanting to make a three headed Pokémon for quite a while, but I couldn't find any that fit this cool Cerberus body I had. I finally got a break at my local thrift store, where I found two out of the three heads. After a quick search on eBay, I found what I needed, and what you see is what I came up with. All the parts were found randomly in thrift stores (except one of the Pikachu heads and the base). I had to do a little sculpting to get the transition between furry dog, and not so furry Pikachu, but I think it came out great.

Mech Mario and Princess Peach at the Movies

Mech Mario and Princess Peach at the Movies

Do you ever what Mario and Peach do with their spare time? I figure they do the same things we all like to do, like go to the movies in a mech suit. If I had a mech suit, I would totally wear it everywhere. Unfortunately for Mario and Peach, the kids behind them are being quite annoying, but at least Pikachu is enjoying the movie.

I used a World of Springfield Movie theater play set, a bunch of random Gundam parts and pieces, an anime girl for Princess Peach's body, and some Rement food miniatures to finish of the piece. I also wired up a piece of EL (electro-luminescent) panel behind the movie screen so that it really looks like they are watching on the big screen.

If you would like to see more pictures, please go to My Flickr Page. I have this available for purchase at My Etsy Shop. The last one of these sold out within a day, so if you are thinking of picking this up, please hurry. Thanks so much.
Kodykoala's Custom Luigi's Mansion Scene

Kodykoala's Custom Luigi's Mansion Scene

Here is another commissioned piece. The buyer wanted a Luigi's Mansion diorama where Luigi was blowing up Princess Peach's dress with the Poltergust. Here is the final result. This was a really cool idea, and I was happy to do this. This is totally an idea I would do (especially after the Dr. Mario piece)

I used a World of Nintendo Princess Peach. I sculpted the dress from scratch, and the legs are from a random anime figure I had lying around. The Luigi is a Bandai Figuarts figure. I filled in the joints to make him a statue, and the hands were modified to hold the Poltergust. The Poltergust and the ghost were sculpted from scratch.

Kodykoala's Custom Spyro Snow Globe

Kodykoala's Custom Spyro Snow Globe

It's been a while since I have made a Snow Globe, and it was a lot of fun. This is a commissioned piece, and the buyer requested Spyro. Luckily I had a spare Spyro lying around, and I have a soft spot for dragons. Here is Spyro's bio from Skylanders.com:

Spyro hails from a rare line of magical purple dragons who can harness the power of the Elements of Skylands, though he prefers to master fire. But his innate ability with Elemental powers also leaves him vulnerable to darker magic. When The Darkness is nearby, Spyro can channel its energy and combine its power with his own, becoming Dark Spyro! Over the years, he has learned to focus and control this power, using dark magic to fight the forces of evil.

I used a Spyro Skylander from the original game, a portal of power from the 3DS version of the original game, a LEGO Santa Clause hat, and a snow globe kit that I purchased from Amazon. If you would like to see more pictures, please go to My Flickr Page.
Kodykoala's Custom Mario Mech Hangar Bay

Kodykoala's Custom Mario Mech Hangar Bay

Here is one of my biggest projects to date. This project is about 18 inches wide x 14 inches deep x 16 inches tall. I have been working on this for the last year (off and on), and it was well worth the time it took. The Mario Mech has already been done, but I wanted to show all the work it takes to put one together. Mario has a specialized team of Engineers and Technicians helping to maintain and repair this giant Mech.

I used the Giant Mario cut in half, and studded with straight pins to look like rivets. The base is a mechanical chain base, and the scaffolding is made from LEGO bricks. I used a lot of parts from my spare parts bins, and I used up a whole lot of my Nintendo figures. Most of the hand tools are LEGO minifigure tools. I gave this a "dirty" painting style so that it had a grimy feel.

Kodykoala's Custom Minion Brothers

Kodykoala's Custom Minion Brothers

Here is a quick custom I did with some McDonald's Minions. I used Vinyl Mario hats and Minions I got at the thrift store. It was a fun project. If you want to see more pictures, please go to My Flickr Page.
Kodykoala's Custom Midna Nendoroid

Kodykoala's Custom Midna Nendoroid

I always thought that Midna would make an extremely cute Nendoroid, so I decided to make it. It took me quite a while to figure out a base figure to use. I did not make her articulate, so that I could focus on her features. I used a Super Sonico Nendoroid figure, and a ton of sculpting on the head.

If you would like to see more pictures, please go to My Flickr Page. I am currently taking commissions, so if you are interested in an original figure, please let me know.

KodyKoala's Custom Amiibos

KodyKoala's Custom Amiibos

I have been a little slow picking up on the whole Amiibo trend, but now I am going at it full swing. Half of the Amiibos are my idea, and the rest are remakes of Amiibos that others have made. I love the creativity people are having with them. I still have a bunch of other ideas that I am going to bring out, but I wanted to show off all the ones I have done up till now.

If you are interested in purchasing these, I will have them in My Etsy Store when I get back in town in a few weeks. If you would like to see more pictures, I have them up in My Flickr Gallery.
Kodykoala's Custom Midna figure

Kodykoala's Custom Midna figure

Here is my latest commissioned figure. The picture is of the figure before I changed the mouth to have a toothier grin. Unfortunately I did not get good pictures. This piece took me a lot longer than I expected. I have never really sculpted anything this detailed before, so I was up for the challenge.

I used a Fraulein Revoltech figure and a bunch of sculpting. The head was pretty much sculpted from scratch. I used micro files to carve the symbols into the head dress.

If you would like to see more pictures, please go to My Flickr Page. If you are interested in a custom, please send me an email at donald.c.kennedy2@gmail.com. We can work out the details and make you a figure that you will like. Thanks.
Kodykoala's Megaman vs. Link

Kodykoala's Megaman vs. Link

Here is a recent commission piece that I did. They wanted a Smash Brothers sort of theme with scenes from both Legend of Zelda and Megaman. The Legend of Zelda scene was sculpted by me and the Megaman scene is a Gundam mechanic base. The figures are a Figma Link and a D-Arts Megaman. I also used various pieces from my parts bin.
