Don't Wake Mario!!! Custom Board Game

Don't Wake Mario!!! Custom Board Game

This one has been in the works for years. I had this idea way back when I did the Gutsman Operation, but I was having a hard time finding the game at a fair price. Luckily, they re-released the game, and so I thought now would be a great time to make it.

You are looking at Don't Wake Mario, a board game inspired by the classic NES game Super Mario Bros. 2. This game comes with all custom game pieces, cards, spinner, board, instructions, and pop-up Mario figure. As you can see from the picture, everything has been redone in a style that fits with the classic game.

Warrior Wario Fantasy Custom Figure

Warrior Wario Fantasy Custom Figure

β€œIn the art of war, if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the approaching battles. But if you know only yourself and not the enemy, for every victory, there will also be defeat.” ― Emily Thorne

Here is my latest custom Wario Figure. I was going for a fantasy/Wario mashup, and I think it came out very cool. Battle Wario was made using a World of Warcraft Figure that I found for fairly cheap. Using a bunch of little details from the Super Mario franchise, the world of fantasy and old school gaming are mixed together.

Princess Peach Mech Chop Shop

Princess Peach Mech Chop Shop

Have you ever wondered what Princess Peach does in her spare time? Well in the Mario Mech Universe, she runs a Mech/Robot parts shop. She has everything you could need to repair your suit, or build a companion to help around the house.

This was made using a World of Simpsons comic book shop with some heavy modifications. Most of the parts are just random thing that I had in my parts bin (can you tell that I have a lot of robot parts ^_^ ). I also used a R.O.B. Amiibo. I thought it fit.

Mech Mario and Princess Peach at the Movies

Mech Mario and Princess Peach at the Movies

Do you ever what Mario and Peach do with their spare time? I figure they do the same things we all like to do, like go to the movies in a mech suit. If I had a mech suit, I would totally wear it everywhere. Unfortunately for Mario and Peach, the kids behind them are being quite annoying, but at least Pikachu is enjoying the movie.

I used a World of Springfield Movie theater play set, a bunch of random Gundam parts and pieces, an anime girl for Princess Peach's body, and some Rement food miniatures to finish of the piece. I also wired up a piece of EL (electro-luminescent) panel behind the movie screen so that it really looks like they are watching on the big screen.

Kodykoala's Nintendo Mech Bar

Kodykoala's Nintendo Mech Bar

Where can you go after a long day of Mech fights and battles? Come down to the Nintendo Mech Bar, where we have everything a person needs to relax. Come enjoy our lovely bar keep Peach, and her sometimes annoying pet Pikachu. Watch current events on our retro TV, or enjoy a nice drink. We also have an amazing love tester. Find out if you are a Super Star, or just a Goomba. We accept all major credit cards, and as always Mushroom Kingdom Cash is accepted.

After making the Arcade, I got inspired to make other small diorama type customs. I really fell in love with the "World of Springfield" Simpsons playsets, so I am using quite a few in my next series of customs. The main base is a Moe's Tavern, Princess Peach's body is an anime gashapon, Mario and Walugi's bodies are Gundam figures, and the rest was modified to fit the theme.

If you would like to see more pictures, please go to My Flickr Page. I am also selling this on My Etsy Page, so if you are interested in getting this, it is currently available. This is no longer available. Sorry
Kodykoala's Custom Luigi's Mansion Scene

Kodykoala's Custom Luigi's Mansion Scene

Here is another commissioned piece. The buyer wanted a Luigi's Mansion diorama where Luigi was blowing up Princess Peach's dress with the Poltergust. Here is the final result. This was a really cool idea, and I was happy to do this. This is totally an idea I would do (especially after the Dr. Mario piece)

I used a World of Nintendo Princess Peach. I sculpted the dress from scratch, and the legs are from a random anime figure I had lying around. The Luigi is a Bandai Figuarts figure. I filled in the joints to make him a statue, and the hands were modified to hold the Poltergust. The Poltergust and the ghost were sculpted from scratch.

Kodykoala's Custom Mario Mech Hangar Bay

Kodykoala's Custom Mario Mech Hangar Bay

Here is one of my biggest projects to date. This project is about 18 inches wide x 14 inches deep x 16 inches tall. I have been working on this for the last year (off and on), and it was well worth the time it took. The Mario Mech has already been done, but I wanted to show all the work it takes to put one together. Mario has a specialized team of Engineers and Technicians helping to maintain and repair this giant Mech.

I used the Giant Mario cut in half, and studded with straight pins to look like rivets. The base is a mechanical chain base, and the scaffolding is made from LEGO bricks. I used a lot of parts from my spare parts bins, and I used up a whole lot of my Nintendo figures. Most of the hand tools are LEGO minifigure tools. I gave this a "dirty" painting style so that it had a grimy feel.

Kodykoala's Custom Minion Brothers

Kodykoala's Custom Minion Brothers

Here is a quick custom I did with some McDonald's Minions. I used Vinyl Mario hats and Minions I got at the thrift store. It was a fun project. If you want to see more pictures, please go to My Flickr Page.
Kodykoala's Giant Bowser

Kodykoala's Giant Bowser

I don't typically work with figure this big, but when I saw there was a giant Vinyl Bowser, I had to think of something to do with him. I was thinking Mech at first, but the pose and Articulation of the figure did not fit well with a Mech, so I decided to make him in a classic situation with Princess Peach. This figure stands almost 10 inches tall and is actually part of a bigger piece that I haven't had time to finish, so I thought I would at least show the figure that will be part of it.

The Princess is actually a mixture of three different figures. I had a vinyl Princess peach that I used for the head, a Nami One Piece figure for the legs, and a Onegai Teacher Anime figure for the torso and arms. This took me forever to finish, but the results were really cool. Hopefully I will be able to finish the rest soon.

Kodykoala's Princess Peach Wrecking Ball

Kodykoala's Princess Peach Wrecking Ball

I thought it was about time I did another contest. This time it is really easy to enter and win. All you have to do is go to My Facebook Page and Like my page and share the post with my Princess Peach Wrecking ball figure. This contest is open to anyone, including overseas and foreign. Just pass the word on about My Facebook Page and share My Picture. Contest ends on May 15, 2014.

The original idea for this came from My Brother. I also took inspiration from TheBourgyMan on Deviantart and ktn305 on Deviantart. I sculpted the base and back, except for the question blocks. The figure is an anime figure with a Princess Peach head. I used a LEGO chain and a hollow sphere that I quartered and filled with Apoxy Sculpt. The base and figure stands about 8 inches tall.
